Dental Emergency FAQs

  • What are common dental emergencies?

Some of the most prevalent dental emergencies are a broken tooth, a knocked-out tooth, a loose or lost restorative piece, a severe toothache, and inflammation or bleeding of the gums. If you are suffering from any of these, we urge you to call our office immediately.

  • How can I prepare my home for a dental emergency?

An important precautionary measure is to adjust your home’s first aid kit to care for a dental emergency. Floss, gauze, and a container to transport a broken tooth in are all good additions to your emergency kit.

  • What should my first step be in an emergency?

Your first step should always be to call our office. Even if you are unsure whether or not your case is urgent, it is best to call immediately to clarify. The sooner you call, the sooner we can treat your emergency.

  • How can I prevent a dental emergency?

There is no definitive way to prevent a dental emergency. However, the best way to prevent emergencies caused by tooth decay and damage is to keep up with your bi-annual cleanings. During these visits, we will be able to detect any signs of a severe case before it becomes an emergency.
